Gastein Ski Resort
Made up of three ski towns (Dorfgastein, Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein) and four ski areas (Dorfgastein-Großarl, Schlossalm-Stubnerkogel, Graukogel and Sportgastein) Gastein is a fantastic destination for a ski holiday in Austria. Enjoy varied skiing with everything from blissful, tree-lined runs, to steeper red slopes and heart-racing black descents. With so much to explore, Gastein offers something for every ability and preference, making it popular with families and groups.
Before its time as a ski resort, Gastein was well known as a charming spa town, with thermal springs that date back to the 7th century. During the winter, the water gorge that runs through the town freezes over, offering magnificent frozen waterfalls that can be climbed. There are plenty of unique winter activities to enjoy around the resort. It’s no surprise that Gastein is home to some fantastic spas and wellness facilities, a nod to its thermal spring heritage.
There is a lively atmosphere around the town, with traditional restaurants, bustling bars and high-end accommodation hosting happy visitors. The architecture is grand, with magnificent, buildings that perfectly complement the pretty winter scenery that surrounds the resort. Just an hour from Salzburg airport, Gastein is ideal for short breaks and ski weekends.
