Skiing in Courmayeur
The ski area is accessible by the Courmayeur cable car, with 31 groomed runs and 100km of challenging off-piste that is excellent after a snowfall. Great for intermediates with plenty of red runs, there are also ski schools and nursery slopes by Plan Chécrouit for beginners.
For fresh powder, tackle the off-piste around the Toula glacier and ski down the epic Vallée Blanche. When it’s sunny, head for the Chécrouit area in the morning and the Pré de Pascal and Val Veny in the afternoon to avoid icy slopes.
Dining in Courmayeur
Courmayeur prides itself on fantastic cuisine. Whether you want a huge pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven from the Pizzeria du Tunnel or local cuisine and Valdostana wine at the rustic family-run La Terrazza, there’s plenty of choice.
On the mountain, we love restaurant Maison Vielle run by a cheerful Tuscan called Giacomo. Try the polenta with local sausage or beef steak. The Taste of Courmayeur event is a great opportunity to get your fill of local delicacies.
Winter Activities
See Courmayeur from above on the Skyway Monte Bianco gondola, by hot air balloon or on a helicopter ride over the Alps and glaciers. Unwind in the nearby Pré Saint Didier outdoor thermal baths that overlook Mont Blanc and have temperatures of up to 37 degrees.
There are scenic walks around Courmayeur, and visits to the Roman town of Aosta can be organised. Other activities include dog sledding through the valley, ice climbing up frozen waterfalls in Cogne and snowshoeing to a mountain hut for an evening meal.
