After a day on the slopes, there’s nothing like enjoying a drink in the mountains. Whether it’s a quiet bar or a lively nightclub you’re looking for, the nightlife is important on a ski holiday. Switzerland has a great choice of bars and clubs to visit in ski resorts. Our ski experts have created a guide to the best après ski in Switzerland.
Crans Montana
Located on the north side of the Rhone Valley, Crans Montana has something for everyone in terms of nightlife. There are over 25 bars, three main nightclubs and a casino if you’re feeling lucky. On and off the mountain you’re in for a treat. Crans Montana has some of the best après ski in Switzerland.
A popular bar is Zerodix, be prepared for live music and table dancing well after the lifts close. Another favourite is the thriving Amadeus bar that has a great selection of drinks and sociable seating. For something a bit different New pub has a pinball machine and large TVs to watch live sport. If you’re looking to dance the night away Pacha and Harry’s are the best nightclubs in town.
Davos
At 1,560m above sea level, Davos is one of the highest and also one of the largest ski resorts in the Alps. It sets a high bar for nightlife too. There is a great selection of bars and nightclubs to enjoy during your visit.
If you want to enjoy the sun and a refreshing beer head to the rustic Schwendi huts including the Schifer Schwendi and Klosters Schwendi. Popular among locals in the town of Davos is the lively Chami bar. A small rustic bar with an alpine charm. For a more sophisticated evening, Davoserhof Lounge and the Morosani Posthotel serve a great selection of cocktails and craft beer. The main nightclub in town is Pöstli Club which is particularly lively at the weekends.
Flims Laax
Famous for its world-class freestyle facilities on the mountain, Flims Laax also has some of the best après ski in Switzerland. It has thriving nightclubs, classy bars and cosy mountain huts. A great nightlife to equal its fantastic skiing. If you’re staying in Laax during a freestyle competition the atmosphere is electric on and off the mountain.
After lifts close, II Pup bar is the first spot people head to for après ski. Riders Palace has a great lounge and bar area with a lively atmosphere. If you’re looking for something a bit more upmarket, the Camino bar in the Signina hotel is a great spot for champagne. The two main nightclubs in Laax are Tiffany bar-club and Riders club.
Grindelwald
Part of the Jungfrau ski region, Grindelwald has a great nightlife to enjoy. It boasts the most bars and clubs out of all the ski resorts in the area. Beautiful Swiss Alps views coupled with a great atmosphere makes Grindelwald an enjoyable experience off the slopes.
After a day on the mountain, Espresso Bar in the Hotel Spinne is a great spot to socialise and enjoy a deserved drink. The Gepsi Bar in Hotel Eiger has a relaxed atmosphere with live background music. If you’re looking to stay out late, head to the main nightclubs Mescalero at the Hotel Spinne and the Plaza at Hotel Sunstar.
Klosters
Famous for having members of the British Royal Family visit each season, Klosters has something for everyone in terms of nightlife. There are traditional Swiss mountain huts, classy bars and fun nightclubs on and off the mountain.
As you head off the slopes, the classy Piano Bar of the Chesa Grischuna has a relaxing ambience. Alternatively, you can visit the Brasserie of the Hotel Vereina for a lively atmosphere and cheap drinks. The Casa Antica nightclub has several floors. On the ground floor, there’s a disco and bar or there’s a live pianist and cocktails on the first floor. The top floor has an exclusive members area, available to book on your trip.
Saas Fee
Considered the hidden gem of Swiss ski resorts, Saas Fee delivers great nightlife. It has a charming traditional mountain vibe but also a brilliant atmosphere. There are fantastic bars and nightclubs to explore on your visit.
For a drink in the sun, Zur Mühle has a great terrace to relax and enjoy the views. The party gets started at the Black Bull with regular DJ sets on the large sundeck throughout the season. If you want a quieter evening, Metro Bar is a cavern-like setting. The Walliserhof’s is a classy drinks lounge with a laid-back vibe. A great place to socialise after a day on the slopes.
St. Moritz
St. Moritz is one of the most luxurious ski resorts in the world but also delivers top-class nightlife. The rich and famous regularly visit the glamourous resort. It’s no wonder with the incredible choice of modern bars and fantastic nightclubs.
Pirates on the Rocks outside the Corviglia lift station is a popular spot to start the night. Admire beautiful Engadine valley views and a drink at the Alpina Bar. On the terrace of the Hotel Hauser is the Roo Bar which serves a selection of Australian beer. If you want a sophisticated evening, Hotel Schweizerhof’s piano cocktail bar is a relaxing establishment.
Verbier
In the centre of the Four Valleys ski area, Verbier has some of the best après ski in Switzerland. It has a lively nightlife scene with brilliant clubs and bars to visit. There’s a reason why Verbier is one of the most popular ski resorts and the nightlife contributes to why.
A popular place to start is the Ice Cube bar at the top of the Medran lift. Le Rouge has fantastic views across the valley and regular live DJ sets. For great live music head to Le Farinet bar. If you want a relaxing drink visit the cosy Fer a Cheval bar. Farinet Lounge serves some of the best cocktails in the Alps.
Wengen
Home to the famous Lauberhorn ski race, Wengen is also a great destination for nightlife. Located in the Jungfrau ski region, Wengen has some brilliant bars to visit. On and off the slopes there’s a great atmosphere and beautiful mountain views.
On the mountain, Mary’s Café and the Schnee Bar are perfect spots to have a schnapps or alcoholic coffee. A great place to socialise is the Pickel Bar in the Hotel Eiger. If you love a cocktail try the lovely drinks at The Tanne bar. The liveliest place in town is the Hasenstall bar which stays open until 5 am.
Zermatt
The iconic views of the Matterhorn are not the only reason to visit Zermatt. It has some of the best après ski in Switzerland. The combination of stunning views and incredible skiing is topped off with fantastic bars and clubs.
Papperla Pub is a popular spot to dance to live music as the lifts close for the day. For great food and drink at affordable prices Sparky’s is perfect. Alternatively, if you want a more sophisticated evening, Hotel Alex has a modern lounge bar with a log fire. The Cavern is another favourite for a quiet drink off the slopes.
