Mike

I have grown up and lived in Bexley since I was born. I currently live in London, having gone to university at King’s College where studying Geography brought a passion for travelling to new, weird and wonderful places.

With my mum being a ski coach at the Woolwich dry slope, my family has always taken me away from a young age, first learning to ski on the East Coast of the USA in Vermont and then in Val d’Isère. It was here that my family got me really into the sport.

It was during these first holidays that I realised I loved spending time in the mountains, with its fresh air and quiet scenery. I truly fell in love with backcountry and freeride when I worked for Ellis Brigham during my time at university, being exposed to a whole host of awesome people who loved the freedom that came with the discipline.

Following on from this, and in an aversion to getting a “proper job”, I spent two seasons in Revelstoke between 2018-2020, where I was able to experience the best the province had to offer whilst training as a CSIA ski instructor. It was here that I truly realised what deep powder really means, and how skiing for many years does not necessarily mean you are any good. With the help of an amazing instructing team, I really started to appreciate the amazing joy that off-piste powder skiing can bring, and the ability to share that with the next generation.

The pandemic brought a harsh reality for me forcing me to return to the UK. The blow however was softened when the wonderful Ski Solutions family took a chance on me and allowed me to share my passion for the sport.
