Sestriere Ski Resort
Sestriere ski resort is superbly positioned at the heart of the Milky Way with access to 400km of pistes across several ski resorts including Sauze d’Oulx. The skiing in Sestriere ski resort is suited for all levels of skiing because of its varied terrain. The slopes to the east of the resort are the most challenging and steep, whereas the Fraiteve side of the mountain is less steep. Beginners have learning zones near the main village. If you’re looking for a challenge there are the Olympic and World Cup downhill runs to test yourself on.
Purpose built in the 1930s, Sestriere has a modern and trendy feel. Off the slopes, Sestriere ski resort has some fantastic restaurants serving delicious Italian cuisine. Après ski is varied – from cosy wine bars to more lively bars and pubs. At the weekends the bars can be filled with locals and tourists, but during the week it is more low-key. The mountain views are truly stunning and the village is easy to get around too.
If you want a break from skiing you can try ice skating, skidooing and dog sledding. There are some great snowshoeing walks where you can admire the beautiful natural surrounding of the area. The main village has a large public swimming pool, which is ideal after a day’s skiing.
